The ZeRo Lab is proud to announce that one of our members, Arna Nishita Nithila, has been awarded the 2023 Helene M. Overly Memorial Graduate Scholarship. Currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Civil Engineering at the University of Arkansas, Arna’s research is making significant strides in understanding the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on transportation mobility among older adults and the broader implications for accessibility and quality of life.

With an undergraduate degree in Urban Planning from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology and a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Arkansas, Arna has dedicated her academic career to ensuring equitable transportation access. Her ongoing work in the ZeRo Lab aims to address the challenges faced by disadvantaged groups in accessing transportation, a critical component of her research mission.

Arna’s contribution to the field of transportation accessibility and her commitment to creating inclusive solutions are at the heart of her recognition with the Helene M. Overly Memorial Graduate Scholarship. Her achievements will be celebrated at the 2024 Scholarship & Awards Celebration on April 17, and we encourage you to register here to support and congratulate Arna on her well-deserved honor.
